We send our thoughts, prayers and condolences to the friends and family of the late Ray Euston, the founder of Inside Out Prison Chaplaincy.
A pioneer of prison chaplaincy in Queensland, Rev. Euston had a strong sense of calling from God to the prisons. In 1973, he started a full-time chaplaincy program, which would later be known as Inside Out Prison Chaplaincy, to provide coordinated pastoral care in correctional centres.
In 1978, the Baptist Union of Queensland committed funds towards the establishment of the Prisons Mission Association Queensland, an independent and non-denominational organisation that continued to pursue Rev. Euston’s vision.
Rev. Euston remained a passionate supporter of prison chaplaincy until his passing on February 19.
“And he said to him, ‘Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise’” – Luke 23:43.
