Inside Out Prison Chaplaincy is making a difference in the lives of people in Queensland correctional centres every day.
Read what motivates our selfless volunteer prison chaplains – and former chaplains – to support men and women on the inside:
“Prison chaplains help a group of people that the rest of society has rejected” – David
“We get to share in their pain and minister the love, hope and peace of Jesus right where they are” – Suzanne
“Prison chaplains can often be the only link between the inside and the outside world” – Sue
“They say we light up their prison unit with our smiles when we enter, as they say, the ‘dark place’” – Myra
“Prison chaplains are important because we have privileged access to broken lives that matter” – Jona
“I feel blessed to have the opportunity to share in the women’s joys and sorrows” – Lyn
“Chaplains have a delicate yet rewarding job to speak into people’s lives, which not only changes the person but can change the lives of their families on the outside” – Rose
“Chaplaincy was my Godly purpose. I had this burning desire to be God’s hands and feet and his eyes and ears in the prisons” – Debbie
“I count it a privilege just being able to have women share their lives with me” – Pat
“Chaplains going into jails are given a wonderful opportunity to provide pastoral care to all. We encourage many to find satisfaction in their spiritual pursuits” – George
“Seeing men at peace, you notice the change come over them when they’ve met Jesus for real” – Jason
“When a prisoner acknowledges Jesus Christ as his personal saviour, his life really is transformed. It’s a delight to see that transformation” – John

Sue and Myriam came to visit me at SQCC, they were a great support and gave me comfort in some of my darkest days. They showed me the light of the Lord.
